Here is my two cents:
If you just pick up one or two pieces of trash it will not change your paddle, it could make a difference, and it will make you feel better for having done something. I do it and I have seen others follow my example and that makes me feel even better.
I do not mean to imply a dedicated trash clean up paddle is not a great idea, but if you do something each trip it can make a difference.
