What's the purpose of adding water to a glue joint? You wouldn't do that with carpenters glue would you? Thanks

AFAIK:
Urethane adhesives cure with 'moisture' i.e. water. If the wood is very dry there may not be enough water available to cure the adhesive.
PVA-type adhesives like carpenters glue need to 'dry' to develop bond strength.
