Thanks for the answers, these are exactly the types of things I was looking/hoping for.

I had intended to use an oil based finish but needed to paint over fairly fresh epoxy and had heard that oil based finishes have difficulty drying over young epoxy and the time between re-coats on oil is longer. I had also heard that with latex you could apply all the necessary coats on the hull on one day then finish the deck the next day and launch it in a week. I was fine with the 4 - 6 hours for re-coating but the 30 day cure time caused me concern. Knowing that others have launched with even less dry time is comforting.

Yes, we do know about not beaching SOFs. While FishStalker is plywood I have paddled a couple of Mike's SOFs so I am familiar and will make sure my son takes care of it. I have even told him that there will be NO horsing around in this boat this trip (Boy Scouts, boats, and water...) because it won't be fully cured. I'm hoping to have custom float bags made by next weekend but if I don't have them done I plan to stuff the boat with empty pop and water bottles along with inflated dry bags. Not ideal but the Tennessee River is wide, deep, calm, and flat where we will be.

Now that the boat is painted I may get a picture of it on a tarp (to keep crud off the paint) when I take it outside this afternoon.
