If you've got the storage space and some time, buying a tree might be an inexpensive way to go, long term.

Lots of small sawmills around, just have to air dry it after it's cut.

Thought of this years ago when I was offered a railroad car full of teak logs, when I actually had the space to store it. Friend bought it instead, took years to sell it all.
