I suppose if you're going to build a mold, then there are all sorts of options, but one of the key benefits of these construction techniques is you don't need to build the mold. With the hybrid technique I'm imagining, you'd incorporate enough structure so that you wouldn't need the mold, but you'd still retain some of the benefits of strip or fuselage construction techniques.

From a practical perspective, though, I guess this concept would only make sense for someone who wanted to build a design that could be implemented in strip but not in plywood, but didn't want the actual strips for whatever reason. I don't know if such a use case actually exists. Maybe this technique would be cheaper, quicker or easier to build, or lighter than a pure strip boat? Not sure.
