First off I'm Bill Hamm and I don't have a web site, I do this for fun, not profit.

Fiberglass is a funny material, has interesting properties but much of it's strength is from it's thickness or the thickness of the material it's applied to. A single layer of light weight fiberglass and resin is VERY flexible and has little strength used alone. Heavier layers can be quite strong but can be very heavy.

Btw, boat building foam sounds like it would be cheap, it's not. It's quite expensive, wood is cheap.

Like others have said, go play with the materials it's the only way to learn about them.
