BTW, there were commercial glass kayaks that were built with CoreMat between glass skins (vacuum bagged in a mold), but they had problems with water intrusion once the outside skin was damaged/scratched/gouged. CoreMat has regular-spaced perforations- and it's not foam but a 'fibrous' material of some kind.
I removed some bulkheads from a glass kayak (built by NorthWestKayaks) recently - they were laid up with glass mat on both sides of Coremat. Stiff but very heavy.
