You're dead right Jay.
Earlier this year, my son and I returned to Shoreham Harbour (UK South coast West of Brighton) and had our two
Guillemots pulled up on the beach, when two guys arrived with a brand new pair of gleeming white surf skis in the roof.
I didn't get their names but seemingly they are the only comercial manufacturers in the UK.
After checking out our boats, one turned to the other and asked "What the hell are we messing about with plastic for?"
I guess proffit was probably their motive but there is just SOMETHING about WOOD!!!!!

I love the look of wood, and I think you can make a light weight wood boat if that's truly the end goal quite well and for not a lot of money. But the look and presence of a beautifully made wood boat just cannot be over-shadowed. I've had my boats at boat shows and even glass manufacturers come over to admire the boats because they are beautiful wood masterpieces (as they all are on this site).
