Strip: Dye hull without dying accent strips

Gentlemen, after building 4 "regular" kayaks I want to expand my skills and try dying the hull of my current Petrel build. It is Western Red Cedar with 4 Basswood accent strips. My question is how do I dye the Cedar and not the Basswood? Or - how do I remove the dye from the Basswood ?
