Thanks everyone - great advice. I'm ready to get started - I reached out to Redfish for info on ordering plans for the Spring Run, but haven't heard back yet. But "which plans should I buy" is probably a topic for a different post.

My first step is to get my hands on the plans, of course. Cutting out the forms seems pretty straightforward, that's why I'm thinking about how I'm actually going to go about cutting the strips. Last year I built an adirondack chair out of 1x6 cedar I got from my local lumberyard that I believe is intended for use as fencing - wondering if that's basically what I want to use for a boat, or if I should get 5/4 material, or something else. (I don't recall if it's red or white cedar, but I think they had both) I'm in Fairfield County, CT - so I see there's a "listed supplier" in Madison, CT, which is close to an hour from me - wondering if it's worth the trip.

I do intend to plan out the strips in regards to color, etc. - and I have no doubt a pinstripe will significantly enhance speed, so that's a no-brainer :-)
