Turns out I'm glad I asked! Looking back on it I've definitely seen examples of external and internal strongbacks, but I didn't really pick up on the difference. So when I started thinking about what will be involved in setting up the forms I turned to Nick's highly informative site as my go-to resource, and didn't realize that there were alternative methods.

Once I learned the word "external strongback" I Googled it and got some good information about the trade-offs, but if I'd been looking at an external strongback example in the first place I don't think I would have asked my "nutty question."

So I didn't even realize this was a differentiator in choice of plans - that some will assume internal strongbacks while others assume external - so I'm really glad I asked.
