I've been looking at those. At one time I'd settled on the Cirrus SLT. I'm right at its height limit (5'6") and 5 pounds below its weight limit (140 lbs). I'm afraid of this height limit being simply the absolute maximum of who can fit but beyond the height of who should really be using it. Maybe I shouldn't be worried about it. What does someone reading this think?

I will consider the Cirrus LT if no one assuages my concern of the SLT.

My recommendation would be to go for the lower volume alternative - the SLT. - for day paddling, taking classes. etc.
But, I'd check with the designer about whether your feet would fit under the deck.

I often paddle my wife's Mariner Elan (I'm 5'10" and 160#) and it feels great - I like to have a boat down toward my hips, not up my ribs. I DO have to pay attention to wear compact footwear (neoprene booties with a trim sole) as I'm above the Shoe Size 9 max spec for that boat.

If you are planning more kayak camping (solo-style, where you are carrying all the gear for yourself and not sharing a tent, stove, etc.), probably the LT would be a better bet.

Just to compare the depth at the cockpit, back and front (in inches):
Mariner Elan:8.125,10.75
Cirrus SLT:8.4,10.75 (less with recessed option)
LT: 9, 11.5
Frej: 7, 10.6
An inch difference in depth is definitely noticeable to me.

The One Ocean plans apparently have info on different size cockpits - I don't know how it works if you are ordering a kit.
