Strip: Waterborne Clearcoat

I’m getting close to the point where I will be putting a finish on my boat and was looking at some of the waterborne clear coats. I have seen several products by PPG, Minwax, Sherwin-Williams and others but I haven’t been able to talk with anyone who has used these products. I know that a few years back there were some waterborne finishes out there that were not the best for protection of your hull, and some of the builders ended up removing the finish and going back to more traditional finishes. It seems that there are new products out on the market today that address some of the shortfalls and if the automotive industry is using the waterborne finishes with good success, it may be worth another look.
Your thoughts,
Walt
