What is missing in this thread is any discussion regarding how and where you want to paddle this boat.

That was my take on this thread, and Mark N discusses it nicely. The purpose built boat I would add is one for birding photography. I built Guillemot L just for that purpose, its wide beam with a rather flat bottom gives it plenty of stability to swing a 500 mm lens around with confidence. Though the Guillemot not a S&G, some research would likely turn one up.
