John, I am sixty lbs heavier than you, even if I am using a skinny boat, I need some length, or I will be sinking the boat beyond its design waterline. I generally go for something in the 17 to 18 ft range.

I am not suggesting that Nyah climbs into something that big. I'm just suggesting that he considers something a little larger than the SLT, which is a vey small boat. I don't know the Mariner, but I suspect that it has fairly plumb ends. The Cirrusses have overhangs. Their waterlines are a fair bit shorter then the overall length.

We are in fact building the LT and one of the SLTs, for a lady weighing in at around 105 to 110 lbs. it will be very interesting to compare the two boats.

Regarding Nyah, I don't disagree that the SLT would suit him if he is just day paddling. I just think that he may find it on the small side if he wants to load gear.

If we had started the cirrus project a few months ago, I would know for sure.
