I agree completely.

BTW, it's not easy finding 'full size' flotation (air) bags that suit a sea kayak - most I see online are designed to fit river (whitewater) boats and are too small for most sea kayaks.
For folks who are looking for suitable bags, one source is Kayak Academy-George Gronseth's school & store- near Seattle.
(Mariner kayaks produced in Seattle never had front bulkheads so all of them needed air bags, with the result that there is still demand for the bags as replacements. Some - not all- folks in the SOF crowd are fitting air bags, too.)
They can also be DIYed with a bit of effort.
Does anybody know of other sources for good large kayak-shaped air bags?

John - that's what I'm saying. If you're using float bags, then you are NOT relying on the integrity of the "watertight" compartments to keep you safe. I was never suggesting "bulkheads OR flotation" it was always "bulkheads AND flotation."

In your previous comments you seemed to be saying that if you have bulkheads, then you don't need any supplemental flotation. I disagree. In my view - just my opinion - if your boat would sink if all three compartments were swamped, then it is unsafe to take that boat out on the water without supplemental flotation.
