I drew a sketch but not sure how to include it. It's nothing at all fancy though - just a board clamped to the rip fence.
If I understand correctly, though, that board has two goals, so he's made it from two pieces. First, he wants a "guide" to keep the stock from lifting up off the table (but not quite"holding it down"). For that purpose, the board is relatively long (18" or so - but at least the width of the exposed blade) to provide control, relatively thin (1/4" or so) to minimize friction and keep any contact on the cut-off side only, and of arbitrary width (it was 2" or so). Secondly, he wants a "guard" to keep tools and fingers from getting pulled into the blade. For that, he wants a relatively short length (2 or 3 inches) so that any pressure against the blade is on the front side only, with sufficient width and thickness to block access to the sharp bits (roughly same width as guide board, but an inch or two thicker) To achieve both, he simply attached the "guard" to the "guide" and then clamped the whole deal to the fence.
Does that make any more sense?
