I apply veneers over previously glassed substrate surfaces/edges so the underlayment cannot be damaged when sanding the veneer when breaking the sharp veneer edge. When possible apply tape next to the veneer edge to act as an indicator of the veneer edge thickness so you don't sand through an edge.

Any glue squeeze out can be cleaned up without damaging the deck or hull wood. Apply a glass patch over the veneer, fill and feather the edges.

Copper tape - interesting. Is that just the regular sort of tape they sell for electronics and/or stained glass window use?

It is a copper tape for electrical uses. 1/8 inch x 55 yds Copper Foil Tape - (3mm x 50m) - EMI Shielding Conductive Adhesive

You could use it to write your kayak for lights.

I apply the tape to wood and glass over.
