Have you tested the strength of those fittings?
(e.g. with a cockpit half-filled with water can you lift the boat?)

Most of the curly maple sticks I've seen snap pretty easily, but I guess the single layer of glass adds quite a bit of strength?

I thought I'd seen your fittings with the wood bar concealing a SS rod, but I must be mistaken.

Do you worry about line chafe inside the fitting?
