Thank you for the feed back, buying pre-cut strips is out of the budget for me. Butt joining the strips will save me time and allow me to match the strips as I cut them. This will allow me to maintain a continuity of the wood grain from the raw boards as I cut them. My practice strips had a depth of 3/16, should I cut them thicker say to 1/4 or 5/16 to help when I start the sanding process?
