If you test-fit each strip, as I recommend, using the heat gun to twist the strip if needed at the stems, with all the spring clamps needed to hold the strip, you will clearly see if you have a perfect tight joint before adding carpenter's glue to bond strip edges. If you can't do it in a test-fit it will not magically work when you add glue.

No surprises. Period.

All that is needed is hand pressure to push the new strip into the previous strip edge and a spring clamp applied at a 45˚ with the apex of the jaw keeping the initial pressure applied. Hot glue beads keep the correct amount of pressure and edge alignment. In 90 seconds spring clamps are removed and the next strip can be applied.

The use of tape limits application of the next strip until the strip edge bonding glue cures and the tape can be removed.

For most of our wood glues, we recommend clamping an unstressed joint for thirty minutes to an hour.

So 90 seconds with hot glue beads, or 30 minutes to an hour with tape, before you can apply the next strip, the choice is yours.
