No, you do not need clamps hold the next strip to the in place strip.

OK - I don't mean to be argumentative here, just trying to get clarity. In your response it sounds like you're disagreeing with me, but when I look at the video you provided it seems to me that Nick is doing precisely what I described in my post.

He applies glue, he then uses spring clamps and plywood brackets to gain some mechanical advantage and apply sufficient clamping pressure against the joint (which isn't that much - just "firm"), and then uses masking tape to maintain the clamping pressure while the glue cures. So putting aside any semantic discussion about the name of the tools he's using, the action that he's taking is "clamping the joint." (he's using masking tape as a clamp, where Rob uses hot glue but does pretty much the same thing) Do we agree on that?

The important thing that I think we do agree on, though, is that he's applying "clamping pressure" on the glue joint, but he's not applying any "forming pressure" to force the strips to conform to the desired shape. Right?
