All dust particles are harmful. IMO sanded glass is as much of a threat as asbestos and I always wear a particulate mask
if I am creating a visible amount of dust when sanding down.
How strong a resin/hardener mix smells is no indication of it's volatility and hence the concentration of fumes that you
might be breathing in. Again IMO wear an activated carbon respirator, except for "small" aplications in the open air.
If you are harmed by either, you may not feel the effects for some time but you will have plenty of time to regret not
taking the appropriate precautions.
