The Gougeon's section on Tortured plywood design is based on using "scaled" plywood sizes for model based design.

I found it, thank you. They suggest 0.8mm plywood for 1:12 scale models when using 4mm plywood for the full scale.


I've been around a situation where analysis techniques did not accurately predict the ability to actually construct a part, due to limitations in the analysis concept. Not a plywood issue at the time, but its good to realize that a chosen analysis may not reflect actual possibilities in actual fact. In that case the key technique was pointed out by the "little old ladies" in the composite shop. Not the engineer or analysis. :)

I am hopeful that my analysis concept is mathematically sound, but any "little old lady" who has built an S&G kayak probably knows a lot more than I do at this point...
