On my night heron I did a similar process. I took an inch out of the sheer in the middle 1/3 of the hull and redrew the sheer back up to the design. Then I took another 3-or-so inches out of the deck height directly in front of the cockpit. This put the rear deck between the height of the "Greenland Style" night heron and the standard night heron, and puts the front deck so that I only need to add about 3" of foam to get good contact with the deck underneath.
Either way- whether you increase the deck height or decrease it- it's a good strategy.
