I finished my first kayak about a year ago. It's a guillemot design. At first, I wanted to make everything perfect and intended to hot melt all the way. What I found is that without proper attention to pre-bending there was no way a strip would stay in position on the first and second station per side. This wasn't consistent; but, I had a lot of issues with strips popping off the forms. Rather than putting an obtrusive large nail or staple, I used a small brad with a pre-drilled hole and a little scrap piece. With the boat completely done, you barely notice the ~15 total brads I used and it saved me a lot of frustration. Good luck. Phil
