That's one of the designs I am interested in, because of the ease of construction. If I build this it will be a trial for a class of people building them, and I don't want to have a big huge project. I just want it to be something that goes together easily for someone with experience, so that it will be manageable for someone without.

So as to performance- How would you rate it compared to a commercial SUP? Especially an entry-level SUP? Contrary to a lot of people's views, I want to build an SUP because they're popular. If people build one and it's not as hard as they thought, and paddle it and it's better than they though, hopefully they'll give building a kayak a try.

Mike, I've resisted saying anything so far, but really - if you want a very easy (and inexpensive) to build SUP that also works great, you should check out my Lanui. They can go together in a weekend, and are very stable and fun to use. http://gentrycustomboats.com/Lanui.html

I'll have plans out for my revised Aloha SUP pretty soon, too. She's more traditional looking, and meant for smaller folks. Easiest to build of any of my boats, including the little Kidyak.

I am happy to donate plans to non-profit boat building programs, and have done so many times.

Here's a pic of my original Aloha. The revised version has somewhat fuller ends, and is a little wider. 11'6" x 29".
