Hi,
I'm in Tasmania so we have some timbers that you might not get so easily, but the best bending timber is Tasmanian Celery Top Pine. It is white and colours to light yellow. When green it can be bent into a tight circle without heat and will dry into position. King Billy Pine is also quite pliable as are most acacia woods (wattles). Jarrah is difficult as it splits at the bend easily as do most eucalyptus types.
