i just want to say many thanks for the quick responses - Rob, Nick and Etienne.
i got the second coat of varnish down now with no problem....just wet sanded, dried and over-coated. not sure what i was thinking using lacquer thinner!? glad i wasn't playing with a saw or something more dangerous.
anyway...pictures below. total weight is 29.5 lbs with all the gear in it and a retractable skeg.
as always...appreciate the forums help on this project...hope to be done soon.
