I am starting on the deck of a Great Auk 14 (my first strip build). I find that there is an almost 90 degree twist from the bow to form #4. At the bow, the strip is almost horizontal and as you go aft it becomes vertical. I don't understand how to bevel the edge. I have stapled down the two center line strips. I also cut some half width strips because I thought they would be easier to twist and would also better fit the tight radius on forms 4 - 8 that I would encounter in the next few strips.
