I find that there is an almost 90 degree twist from the bow to form #4. At the bow, the strip is almost horizontal and as you go aft it becomes vertical. I don't understand how to bevel the edge. I have stapled down the two center line strips. I also cut some half width strips because I thought they would be easier to twist and would also better fit the tight radius on forms 4 - 8 that I would encounter in the next few strips.

Several things can help with the ends. One is to make the strips narrower so they take the upward curve more easily. Two is to pre-bend the strips with heat. You can use a heat gun for this or in this video I use a hot clothes iron: http://www.guillemot-kayaks.com/guillemot/blog/nick/continuing_strip_deck
Sometimes the hot iron is faster because you are directly applying the heat.
