Steve, I will chime in with my method of filling gaps in the hull,While Etienne is right there are times that I get the outside that's noticeable tight but the inside suffers from over aggressive planeing and sanding. I select a board that matches the hull wood and setup the saw to rip the outside of the board as thin as I can some slivers come out paper thin and use these to fill the gaps using Titebond II.
