Strip: Boat Sizing

I'm building 2 boats for a couple who are close friends of mine. We settled on a Petrel for the woman who has a paddling background, but her husband is going to be new to paddling.
The problem is his size. He is 6' 2" and 235 lbs with size 13 feet! He is very fit, but carries most of his bulk in his lower body. It was a real squeeze to get him in my Guillemot.

Recommendations anyone?

Problem is, he likes the look of the Petrel, which in its original form is out of the question.
