I think around 3/4" plywood is typical for the frames, but if you glass 5mm, and maybe double up a couple of the forms at the cockpit, that might work. The only failure I ever had on fuselage frame was cutting frames too thin. Some are doing thin Dacron skins and glassing them. Fuselage frame is, IMO, faster built, maybe cheaper, and more assured of getting a decent hull, at least until one gains experience with the steaming. Also more forgiving of material choices, don't have to find green white oak. You can also hybridize the build somewhat. I put a regular masik in my fuselage builds backed up to the frame at that location.
