Have you ever tested an SOF for flexibility before and after the skin is on?
I have and the difference is not much - noticeable but not a large change.

Yes, I have tested it, and for the frames I built the difference was huge. Without the skin the frame was very fragile. After (very tight) skinning) with 12oz nylon, and even before coating, the boat became "bulletproof" breakage-wise. You and I must be using very different framing/skinning materials and techniques.

Your story about the coating penetrating evenly is wrong.

I have no story, I simply state what's self-evident.
The dark stains show up only in the areas where the skin meets the frame. This indicates coating penetrates differently there, for whatever reason, and the most likely reason is different properties of the fabric in those locations.
