Sadly the polypropylene cloth I used to use is no longer available as an abrasion cloth for keel/stem edge protection.
Polyester tape is less flexible but good and available from SweetComposites.com is nearly as tough as Dynel but wets out translucent.
Apply as shown on page 91 of my canoe instruction book which you should be using.
