You can strip the entire boat before glassing, but don't glue the strips at the sheer. You want the deck and hull to come apart without having to saw anything.

Normally the hull is glassed before the deck is started though. The main reason I do this is because the timber is prone to dings and scratches. The glass gives it a lot of protection once it is on. If I had a larger shop I would be happier to put an unfinished section aside safely where it wouldn't get something dropped on it or be bumped into.

If you do glass the outside of the hull, it pays to glass the inside as well, as soon as possible, to avoid distortion due to prolonged humidity changes.

There is so much instruction available these days, and so many differing approaches, that it all seems more compilcated than it actually is. The process becomes more clear as you go along.

YouTube videos by Nick are worth watching. They explain a lot, and show technique, for simple things, like rolling bevels, etc. they also show you that scary things, like glassing, are not actually that scary at all.

Just be aware, that some of his vids are speeded up. It is not really possible to glass an entire hull in four minutes. In reality it takes him seven minutes. ;-)
