Hi,
That is pretty much what it looks like. Yes, the button is on the female half -- I can't figure out what the mechanism is on the inside that latches onto the male half and that the button pushes against to release it. I can't get a good look inside the shaft to see what's going on in there.

Yeah, maybe I should convert to Greenland. I've tried them a few times -- they're great for rolling but I can't get used to paddling with them. Maybe just need more practice.

Anyway thanks so much Etienne for your efforts to help. If anyone else on this forum has additional suggestions please let me know. And if I get further insight from the company I'll share it here.
