It is somewhat easier with automotive body sand paper, first it's often better quality and most of it now is either self stick or Velcro.

We used to use the adhesive used to stick auto sanding pads to the air sanders but it's hard to find anymore.

I think Nick's adding an "L" where he didn't mean it to be added, padding not paddling.
