just wondering if anyone uses a heat box to warm up the epoxy before using it ?

Yes. I have a heater under the bench where I keep the epoxy jugs, and I heat up the epoxy before use, unless the weather is unusually warm in my (unheated, PNW) shop. Ceiling radiant heaters warm the boat.
