It sounds like you pulled out that deck section, covered it with carbon, and then glued it in before glassing? Did you have any problems preventing it from warping while it was off the forms?

Were you prepared for the color change in the Padauk? Or is that just an artifact of the photo process?
I've found that epoxy changes color of a few woods; perhaps the alkaline hardeners are responsible. BTW, I think the less-orange padauk color is very attractive, also.
