Because the honeycomb pattern bulges at the edges of each kexagon, I had to use a paintbrush to put on three heavy coats of epoxy on the carbon to prevent sanding into it. I still do a final coat after I get the boat together. Thankfully I have a friend who helps me finish the boats with automotive UV clear coat.
