Mark explained it well. You're looking for a more maneuverable kayak. Shorter boats are inherently more nimble but don't base your decision entirely on length.

I agree.
Another aspect to consider: If you are comfortable edging the kayak, you can turn it more quickly. A shorter, wider kayak is often harder to 'put on edge', especially if the cockpit isn't designed to allow for good thigh contact.
I also agree with the comment about the Frej being easy to turn It has quite a lot of rocker, but is still quick - a combination that I've seldom found.
