So I laminate mine with a wet-dry method. I lay the carbon onto a fresh layer of brushed-on epoxy.

Another thing you can do is use spray adhesive to hold the fabric in place. A light mist of 3M Super 77 on the the part before applying the CF will hold the fabric in place while you saturate the cloth.

The adhesive likely does interfere with the bond, but you only need the lightest of mists so the epoxy will still penetrate to the substrate. And we aren't building rockets for NASA.
