Did you end up making this repair as a patch? How did it turn out?

I've often thought that if this happened to one of my SOF's that I'd work to make it look like an obvious patch with obvious oversize thread stitching about the edge of the patch and yes sealed with PL Premium similar to how I've sealed the stitching at the bow and stern ends.
