Self-adhesive velcro pads? Would that work?
I agree with Et. The easiest is to just sit on it for awhile to get a feel for where the kayak performs best.
Regular velcro does not work well in wet conditions, but there is a heavy duty velcro designed for outdoor applications that may work better.
