I'm wanting to build a skin on frame kayak soon. Just about every set of plans that I've seen available on the web lists a maximum capacity of between 250-300lbs. I'm 275, so ideally I'd like to build a SOF kayak with at least a 350lb capacity as I like to do kayak camping trips and need to be able to load gear. If my Fairy Godmother were to wave her magic wand, I'd love to build a SOF version of the Pygmy Borealis as it's specs and handling are nearly ideal for my needs. Note: I already have a Borealis, so I'm not wanting to build another one. I'm really interested in a SOF because of the very light weight, relative ease of building one, and the more traditional platform.
Any suggestions?
