I built an Auk 14 years ago and I believe hatches and bulkheads were optional. I initially installed a rear bulkhead and hatch. This spring I installed a front bulkhead and hatch and redid the rigging. With the peaked foredeck, it's a not the most elegant but I incorporated it into the deck pattern.
