As far as 5 minute epoxy, they all have their limitations and uses. I always have a few tubes of 5 and 15 minute stuff around.

a few months back i broke the collet (blade holding end) on my DeWalt jig saw. I was using it and the blade end hit into metal grounding it banging it upward into the blade holder etc. I had a crack and it would no longer hold blades. The DeWalt mechanism is overly designed and I would not want to take it apart, plus the replacement part(s) was like $45. And its about 18 years old.

I sanded the collet and used a thin layer of 5 minute epoxy for metal. As it was hardening I piled on more creating a lump like a weld. I let it harden for over a day. So far so good. What else could have repaired that? This was loctite brand and they claim you can even tap the hardened epoxy. In 5 minutes it hardens but complete hardening is in days much like the stuff we all use for our boats.
