I was aware of how the weight of the water-filled bladder on my back affected my balance. My skills have improved, but the physics have not changed.

It depends on the amount of water you are carrying, and the weight of your torso & head.
I couldn't convince a friend that he wasn't endangering his life by 'weighting down' his PFD with water, so I won't try on this 'Balance/Center of Gravity' issue!

It's a funny thing- I notice the weight of my PFD (PFD+radio+neoprene balaclava+ Leatherman tool+snacks+PLB+ etc etc) but I don't pay attention to the weight of the flab I carry around all the time! (Well, fat floats, anyhow....)
